And so it was! Octocon 2009
Submitted by Danielle Lavigne on 12. October 2009 - 21:28Hello everyone!
Well, all we can say is "Wow!" after such a fantastic weekend! We're still recovering here at Octocon Towers, but we have so much to put up here and tell everyone about and so many people to thank!
All of this will be coming in the next few days, so check back here and on our 2010 site for lots of little things, including the 2010 dates, how to register, and news on who'll be there! Stay tuned, true believers!
With everyone's amazing feedback, we're going to throw an even greater con next year, and Octocon.com will be growing into something very nice indeed between now and then.
So keep your eyes on the website and the Twitter for news as it happens!
Lots of love,
Octocon
Last Minute Changes
Submitted by Danielle Lavigne on 9. October 2009 - 14:08Hi everyone. We have some bad news and some good news.
Harry Harrison, author of The Stainless Steel Rat and long-time Octocon guest, has unfortunately had to cancel his trip for the weekend. He had a minor accident this morning and isn't able to travel over the next few days.
The good news is that he is expected to make a full recovery and we're looking forward to seeing him at future conventions!
Harry was looking forward massively to the convention and was very excited to see his good friend Dave Lally appear as a guest of honour for the first time, but Harry's health comes first and rightly so!
The other bit of good news is that Harry's bibliographer Paul Tomlinson will be at the convention, speaking on some panels and enjoying the con, so he can answer any pressing questions you may have and bring back all well wishes to Harry! Be sure to say hi when you see him!
We hope to see you all there!
