R.I.P. Anne McCaffrey

On the 21st of November 2011, Anne McCaffrey, renowned author of speculative fiction, passed away. As a former Guest of Honour, Octocon would like to pass on our sincerest condolences to Anne's family, friends, and fans.
Anne was the creator of the Dragonriders of Pern series, and The Ship Who Sang, amongst numerous other works. A lot can be said of her work, and there are a great many posts online detailing why she was one of the greats. This io9 post is a good place to start, but all we can really say is that she'll be missed.
She was 85 years old.
