How to get to Maynooth!

Please note that all prices and times are subject to change! We cannot accept responsibility for rising prices, altered timetables, or delays caused by road works, traffic jams, bad weather, alien invasions, or anything else beyond our control!

Travelling from the centre of Dublin:

By car:

Maynooth is about 16 miles (about 26 km) west of the centre of Dublin; and it's a very straight-forward route. First, find the quays on the south side of the river Liffey. Now simply follow the flow of the traffic in a westerly direction. You'll soon pass the Guinness factory on your left and be heading towards Heuston station, where the road branches to the right (over the river) and to the left. You want the left branch here; this will take you onto the R111, which soon turns into the N4, then the M4. Just follow the road until you reach Maynooth.

Note: the AA's website has a handy route-planner!

By Dublin Bus:

You can take the 66 or 67A bus from Wood Quay. Buses depart between two and four times per hour, depending on the time of day. From the city centre, the fare to Maynooth is €1.65.

The 66X and 67X buses are faster, but much less frequent, generally only operating during rush-hour. From the city centre, the fare to Maynooth on one of the X-buses costs about €2.85. There is also the 67N, a "Nitelink" bus (that is, an after-midnight service) that travels to Maynooth every day except Sunday. The fare is €6.00.

If you're going to be staying in Dublin and travelling to Maynooth for the convention, you might wish to avail of the "7-Day Dublin Rambler" ticket. This costs €18.00 and valid on all Dublin buses except the Nitelink, ferry services and tours. However, it IS valid on the Airlink (of which, more below!).

If in doubt, contact Dublin Bus (www.dublinbus.ie, or phone +353 1 8734222)

A note for members not staying in Maynooth, here are the times of the last bus back into Dublin:
Monday to Friday: 67/67A, departs at 23:45
Saturday: 66, departs at 23:30
Sunday: 67/67A, departs at 23:25
Please note that there is no Nitelink bus FROM Maynooth!

By Train:

Trains for Maynooth depart from Connolly Station. The journey shouldn't take longer than forty minutes. No idea what the fares are, though: they're not listed anywhere on the website.

The last train leaves for Maynooth at about 22:30 Monday to Saturday, 18:20 on Sundays.

Travelling from Dublin Airport:

By car:

Maynooth is about 21 miles (34 km) from Dublin airport. After you leave the airport, take the M1 south until you reach Junction 3, then go west on the M50. Stay on the M50 until Junction 7 immediately after the tollbooth (the toll costs €1.50 per car), then go west on the N4 / M4.

Note: the AA's website has a handy route-planner!

By bus:

The Aerlink bus (number 747 or 748) goes directly into the city centre, from where you can then take a bus or train as above to Maynooth. The journey costs €5.00, and during the day the buses depart every ten minutes.

By taxi:

Hiring a Maynooth-based taxi (see the list below) will usually work out cheaper than taking one of the taxis that wait outside the airport's arrivals terminal, though of course you will have to wait for the taxi to come from Maynooth! However, you can book the taxi in advance so that it will be waiting for you when you arrive. Another advantage with booking a Maynooth-based taxi is that the driver will be familiar with the journey and will know all the handy short-cuts!
